Police who responded to a reported robbery in progress at Quincy Station, spoke to the 25-year-old victim, who stated he arranged to meet a man at the station to sell him a pair of shoes when the man tried to steal the shoes.
The alleged would-be thief, 22-year-old Kerby Cetoute, was subsequently found and arrested on an armed robbery charge.
